The Freedom in Real Forgiviness

The healing starts when I recognize and accept these stories are in process. A maddeningly non-linear journey, but a journey of getting clear and present nonetheless.

Sharing Stories to Bear the Unbearable

I am made of the stories I tell myself.

These stories are beliefs about me, other people, and how life works. They act like a magnifying glass – they become all I can see.

“At some point we have to understand that we do not need to carry a story that is unbearable. We can observe the story, which is mental; feel the story, which is physical; let the story go, which is emotional; then forgive the story, which is spiritual, after which we use the materials of it to build a house of knowledge.”

– Joy Harjo, Poet Warrior: A Memoir

Yet, as Joy Harjo so eloquently states, each tangled story can integrate itself into a new structure by being observed, felt, released, and ultimately forgiven.

It’s a process of changing perspective that comes from the Heart.

…..

With real forgiveness, the unbearable becomes more than just tolerable, it becomes freedom.

The healing starts when I recognize and accept these stories are in process. A maddeningly non-linear journey, but a journey of getting clear and present nonetheless.

Judging the process is not the goal. It’s time when it’s time; like a well-baked cake. And just like a cake, leave it in the oven ignored too long, it gets hard and bitter.

I don’t want tangled beliefs to fester, so I keep the channel open with simple practices and relax – then relax some more…

…..

That’s the thing, this whole journey of getting free, it’s about being REAL.

I may want to jump ahead and forgive, but I can’t force it, I may not be ready. Maybe I need to unravel some of the backstory first.

That’s the beauty of hypnosis, being in a clear state with more connection to intuition, you can tell if you are giving what I call forgiveness lip service, or if it feels real and whole.

Saying, I forgive them, just because it’s logically the position you think you should be in, isn’t really it.

This is very common in religious circles where it’s easy to mistakenly carry a burden of guilt if you don’t forgive. Then double load by adding silent rage, cooking underneath.

…..

We are not the ones doing the healing.

The power to forgive is bigger than my ego can do by itself.

On my journey, my job is to put myself in a position of willingness and readiness for healing to happen. Then once again, another beautiful surrender puts that magnifying glass down and new vistas appear.

Let me know if you’re curious to hop in and enjoy this process together. Transforming our personal stories into ones that align with what feels right is a journey for sure, and one I am grateful to witness.

This is a big topic of transformation in my work as what we do together in Spiritual Mentor & Hypnotherapist. If you are curious to experience this journey, I invite you to visit and connect with me.

Here’s to Being Clear and Present…
